Parkway has helped out people "in need" this past holiday season. Working in conjunction with Bedbugfree/Bedbug Central, Peter Scala and Jim Boney participated in "Taking a Bite Out of the Holidays". Parkway donated its time and products to help people :"in need" control their bedbugs problem. Parkway was thrilled to participate in this program.

Peter Scala, our board-certified entomologist and Jim Boney attended the 75th Annual Purdue Pest Control Conference at Purdue University in Indiana. More than 1000 people attended this conference. It is considered one of the most prestigious pest control conferences in the country. Many aspects of pest control technology were covered by a series of experts, who sought to convey the latest methods and technical information necessary to conduct safe and effective pest management services.

Parkway Exterminating Co., Inc. participated in "Career Day" at the Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, New York.  Peter Scala and Peter Mongillo spoke with senior classmen about the career opportunities available in entomology. Their presentation was well received.

Pat Sposato participated in the New York State Association for Superintenents of Buildings and Grounds "Workshops" for the Nassau, Suffolk and the Southeastern Zone chapters.

Parkway Exterminating Co., Inc. was represented at the New York State Pest Management Association Division Seminar on bed bugs. Pat Sposato attended the all day course, helping to keep Parkway Exterminating Co. abreast of the latest technology in bedbug control.

Brian Cooney from MGK presenrted a seminar on bedbugs to Parkway's technicians. History, biology, control measures, and the problems with people understanding the nature of bedbugs were discussed.

Brian Mongillo attended the Associated Pest Control Association's semi-annual conference in Denver, Co.. At the conference regional companies in the industry share ideas, problems and technology. Entomologists, industrial companies and governmental agencies offered seminars and programs.

A representative fron Bell Laboratories recently completed a seminar at Parkway Exterminating Company. All of Parkway's technicians were on hand to learn the latest in rodent control and techniques. New materials, methods and approaches were discussed. It was extremely informative and will be most beneficial for our customers.


James Lofton of Dow AgroSciences spoke with Parkway personnel regarding Sentricon Always Active Termite Baiting System.  Parkway is proud to be a representative of this product and is looking towards this product as the future of termite control and protection.


Pat Sposato attended the National Pest Management Association's "Bed Bug Workshop Series" in New York City.  This particular program was designed for hospitality organizations, apartment managers and co-op and condo owners.  Discussions were held on the problems associated with bed bug control, tenant responsibilities, management responsibilities, the latest products and the legal ramifications involved with bed bug control 


Parkway Exterminating participated in Career Day at Munsey Park Elementary School.  Using detective work and Sherlock Holmes as examples, Peter Scala described how identification, determining the source and proper remediation are necessary in today's IPM pest control solutions.  Peter also displayed his vast insect collection to the children in the 6th and 3rd grades.



Rick Allen, A.C.E. from Residex presented a lecture on flies to Parkway's technicians.  He spoke about fruit flies, phorid flies, drains flies, and house flies.  The most important aspects of fly control are 1) Identify the fly, 2) Find the breeding source, 3) Create a non-chemical (sanitation) and chemical approach to solving the problem and 4) Workout a partnership between the customer and the pest control technician to implement this program.  They must work together to make this pest control work.



Parkway Exterminating was represented at the NPMA (National Pest Management Association) Annual Conference.  Peter Scala and James Boney attended the conference in New Orleans, LA.  Discussions and seminars were held on new products, laws, rules and regulations, industry problems and related topics about pest control services.



Pat Sposato and Peter Scala recently returned from the Associated Pest Management Conference in Seattle, Washington.  This conference consists of pest control companies throughout the nation, getting together to exchange ideas, problems, new procedures and technology.



Brian Mongillo attended the 2011 Bed Bug Summit in Chicago.  This is sponsored by Bed Bug Central covering the latest in bed bug contol, new products and all general information related to bed bugs.


Steven Mora from FMC spoke to our technicians regarding the latest product for bed bug detection.  The VERIFI is the newest product from FMC to detect bed bugs.  It mimics a human and is economical to use.  Mr. Mora demonstrated the use of the product and described how it works.  Everyone at Parkway is extremely enthusiastic about this new tool in bed bug detection.
