In the past, pest control operators have applied pesticides as
a supposed preventative maintenance. However, relying on
the exclusive use of pesticides is rapidly diminishing. Federal
government buildings no longer allow this and soon you will
find the integrated pest management approach mandated
throughout public service facilities. The idea of IPM is to
monitor and control pests only when they appear, eliminating
the unnecessary application of pesticides in the environment.
It is being discovered that few people know what pesticides
are being sprayed in the buildings. In 1989, New York state
GSA adopted a resolution urging the use of pesticides only
as a last resort and promoting the use of alternative methods
in pest control.
Parkway has been promoting IPM in buildings for some time.
We are well versed in its techniques, application methods
and record keeping procedures. IPM utilizes traps, insect
monitors, baits and sanitary awareness with pesticides as a
last resort, on a limited basis to control pests. This is the way
of the future. Do not be caught in the position of pesticide
unawareness and poor record keeping. Parkway will provide
you with a specification sheet, monthly reports, sanitary
recommendations and state of the art techniques in
integrated pest control. Not just any pest control company
can utilize IPM. It takes training, knowledge, and a dedication
to people, the environment, worker safety and a desire to
use chemicals in a way that is both realistic and efficient.
